About

I’m 16 and about to start A Levels, I’m pretty focused on going to Art College in the future and Falmouth seems like my perfect location, unless you could put an art college in my favourite corner of South Devon. For me, location is one of the most important things, I’m inspired by things that make me happy and that I find aesthetically pleasing, cities just don’t appeal to me.
I’m still experimenting with different techniques and trying to improve my technical skills as much as I can, I’m also looking for ways to make my work a bit less tight and detailed as I find that, especially when working from a photograph, I tend to get a bit dragged into total accuracy and realism rather than a looser and more emotive interpretation, especially with landscape. However, I don’t believe that art has to have a meaning, that it has to shock people. I like to paint things that are beautiful or moving or important to me. A quote from ‘Dissolution’:
“Art should resolve the mysteries of our being, not occlude them further.”
Who knows, I might change my mind, I’m only young and I haven’t any controvertial ideas that I want to convey. So in this blog I’m posting a bit of my work and tracking the way I try to develop it, please comment on it if you have anything to say!
